Phonetics :-

The study of human speech sounds is called phonetics.

It is the production, transmission and perception of sounds during our daily speaking. In phonetics, we study the physical properties of sounds of any language ( in phonology, we study sounds from specific language). These sounds may be individual and meaningless sounds.

Branches of phonetics:-

The following three are the main branches of phonetics.

#2:- Articulatory phonetics:-

The study of articulation and the production of sounds is called articulatory phonetics.

We study the production of sounds and different supporting organs like larynx,  pharynx and mouth.

#3:- Acoustic phonetics:-

The study of sounds during the transmission from the mouth to the inner ear is called acoustic phonetics.
It deals with the physical properties of sound as it is in the form of wave.

#3:- Auditory phonetics:-

It is also known as perceptual phonetics. It is the study of perception of speech sounds or how the sounds are received by ear.
